Willie Creek

Today we got up in the morning and had a hurried breakfast. After that we drove to Willie Creek Pearl Farm. We did the tour last time so Mum, Dad, my sister and I fished off the jetty. After some very frustrating minutes I had a small hooked rig tied onto my hand line. Once it was tied on I baited it with squid and dropped it down. I felt a good hit and yanked the line up. Then I pulled in a small Fingrmark Perch. I showed it to dad and then released it.

Then I re-baited and let it down again. The fish were at it while I could still see the bait. After it sank out of sight a good hit told me that I had another fish on. I pulled my line up and found another flapping Fingermark Perch. It was small like the other one and found itself in the water before it knew it. I caught another one after that and released it quickly.

Then we had to move aside to let the people for the tour on. After hay were on the boat I started fishing again. There were some big Blowies that kept nipping my bait. After that I caught another Fingermark Perch. Then the tour boat came back and we had to move aside again. Once the tour was underway again we moved back into our spots. I tempted some more Blowies from under the steps. They were hiding under the first step into the water.

The tide was rising fast and I was finding it increasingly difficult to entice a fish to bite. I enticed a small blowie out from under the step and foul-hooked it through the guts. After that I didn't get any more bites. So I cast out as far as I could. The bait sank to the bottom quickly and I felt some good hits. I let the fish nibble a bit and then I yanked the line hard. I felt a big weight on the end of my line and pulled it in. I was hoping for a Bream but it turned out to be a 30 cm Blowie. It didn't inflate itself until Dad had the pliers out to remove the hook. It inflated to a pretty big size.

After that there were no more bites and we packed up and went back to the car. The tour finished and we watched the senic tour helicopter take off. The downwash from the rotor was so strong that I was forced backwards a few steps. After five minutes they landed and the downwash blasted Dad and me with dirt. Then we all hopped in the car and drove back to the caravan park. When we arrived we had lunch.

After lunch my sister went and had a swim in the pool. I got out after an hour because the water was rather cold today. When I got back to the caravan I wrote the blog. After writing the blog we had dinner. Dinner we had a turkey salad made by my sister. After diner we had dessert. Dessert was ice cream and mangoes again! Then I went to bed.
